Someone offers to recover your stolen crypto: is that real?
Plain-language guide · updated 27 October 2026
Short answer
Almost never: whoever contacts you after a loss offering to recover your crypto is almost always a second scammer. A transaction on the blockchain cannot be reversed, not by an ‘expert’, a hacker or a ‘blockchain lawyer’; only police and prosecutors can sometimes have funds frozen at an exchange. Real help never asks for your recovery phrase (seed phrase), for payment up front or for you to connect your wallet.
Paste the address and check it yourself
Veydor shows, in plain language, which known dangers a Solana coin has right now. Free, no account, and Veydor never asks you to connect your wallet.
Go to the checkA check is a snapshot: a coin can change within minutes. A new check shows the situation at that moment.
What such an offer looks like
They find you through a reply under your post, a private message, an ad at the top of the search results or a site full of glowing reviews. They call themselves a recovery firm, a blockchain investigator, a law firm or even a government agency. Sometimes they show a ‘report’ saying your money has already been ‘found’ and only needs to be ‘released’.
How to recognise it
Payment up front. Fees, tax, a deposit or ‘release costs’ before you get anything back.
Your recovery phrase or private key. ‘To check your wallet’ or ‘to send the money back’.
Connecting your wallet or signing something. On their site, ‘to start the reversal’.
Watching your screen. Installing an app that lets them control your computer or phone.
A commitment up front. That you will surely get a fixed part back. Nobody can make that happen, because a transaction on the blockchain is final.
What you can do
Report it. Report it to the police and to your country’s official fraud-reporting service; where that is differs per country. Keep the transaction IDs, the addresses and the messages for that.
Did the money go to an exchange? Report it to that exchange, through the address you type yourself, not through a link from a message. Only the exchange and the police can block anything there.
Your wallet. Move what is left to a new wallet with new words, created on a device you trust. The steps are on the page about a rug pull and in the bot under /lost.
Check a message or link. Forward an offer you do not trust to the Telegram bot @Veydor_check_bot. You then see whether it contains known signs of a scam, without opening anything.
Frequently asked questions
Can a hacker get my crypto back?
No. A transaction on the blockchain is final. Whoever says they can ‘hack’ it back usually wants money up front or access to your wallet.
The firm has a tidy site and good reviews. Is it real then?
That says nothing. A site and reviews can be made in an afternoon. Look at what they ask for: payment up front, your recovery phrase or a wallet connection are the signs.
They only ask for a small fee up front. What is the harm?
After the first payment there is almost always another one: tax, costs to ‘release’ the money, a fine. The money does not come back.
I have already paid such a firm. What now?
Stop the contact and pay nothing more, also when they threaten you or ask for one last amount. Report it to the police and keep all messages and payments. Expect a ‘new’ firm to contact you later.
